Taking pics at a fire scene

Sometime ago I had many people ask me is it LEGAL to take pics at a fire scene. I told them that as far as it went the answer is NO!! I have had seen many people take pics of a fire scene. Just recently, Feb 9th,2009 there was one structure fire just up the street from me. As it went there was about close to 60 people including me was taking pics of the fire. So I just wanted to share this.
